One of my 120gb drives failed, so I thought I would finally get around to reorganising my system to the way I want… Linux as primary, and Windows as secondary for gaming etc. It makes sense, since I’m getting ADSL in the next couple of days, and I won’t have the driver issues with my USB isdn adapter under Linux anymore. Now I can finally get rid of this shitty Microsoft platform as my every day OS.
So anyway, I reload, and I realise that I don’t have my LAN drivers handy, so I connect to the website to download them. I eventually find them, a 5mb or so download.
While it’s downloading (yeah yeah, slow ISDN), I’m browsing the site, and I discover this thing called ‘Download Center’. So I check it out. It apparently scans your system, and shows you what drivers you need to download. So I do that, just for the hell of it.
It basically says ‘LAN driver’ - Intel - size: 89Mb. I did a double take. What the fuck? 89Mb for a fucking LAN driver? You’ve got to be shitting me! Jesus, I need a LAN driver, not a frikkin’ operating system. Holy motherfuck, what the hell are these people thinking?!?
And then to add insult to injury, when I closed the window for that ‘Download Center’ software, Internet Explorer crashed. Luverly.
Have I mentioned that I fucking hate Windows?
Can’t wait until the frikkin’ LAN driver is loaded so I can get my faithful firefox running. Sheeee…
I’ve gone and joined the masses. I bought myself an ipod. Woo.
It’s a 20gb model… it’s sad that my entire mp3 collection fits on it with ease. Gah.
I bought it to while away the time while I mow the lawn… it’s a huge ass garden, and I drove myself nuts thinking about things when I mowed it. So I decided to drown out my thoughts by singing along to the ipod. Heh.
I also bought myself a brand spanking new Canon Powershot G6. I mentioned it in an earlier post.
We’re going to the Kruger National Park next weekend for our anniversary. 6 years. Wow. Time flies.
It’s really annoying when I try and implement something on the site, and I discover that my template code is faulty. Grrr. Oh well, a couple of hours of debugging solved the problem, eventually.
Today we spent an exorbitant amount of money on stuff for the house. Bought a headboard & some pedestals for the bed, a huge ass wall unit for the TV and related paraphernalia, some high back comfy office chairs (Finally! After so many damn years! I’m chucking out that fucking blue chair now!), a dining room suite, a coffee maker (been missing that sucker), and some other odds and ends. Busy busy. The stuff will be delivered sometime during the week.
Still gotta wait 2 weeks for the custom desks I ordered though. I’m not looking forward to having to dismantle all this shit again. Yikes.
Finally got my PC back up and running. It’s been disconnected and in pieces since the 27th Feb. I think that is the longest time (ever?) that I have been without a PC at home.
Now I just need to connect the wife’s PC so that she can work. She’s been bitching at me for awhile now… but I secretly think she’s glad that she can’t spend the whole afternoon preparing lessons.
I’m gonna have to disconnect and reconnect everything again in two weeks or so, since that is when my custom desks are arriving from the factory. I can finally have a decent (proper) desk, instead of these two steel tables I’ve been using for the past few years.
Boys kill friend using “Mortal Combat” video technique : HTTabloid.com
I love how they say that there was evidence of alcohol at the scene, but go off at a tangent at video games, but fail to mention that alcohol might have been a factor. They also fail to mention the kind of upbringing these kids have had.
It’s so easy to lay the blame at someone else’s door.
Going on what these so-called news stories incite, I should have been a convicted serial killer by now.
Violence in games doesn’t bother me in the slightest, but even I draw the line at what I will play.
Mad Pengiun dot org :: Reviews : First Look At Solaris 10
So I’m busy perusing the above article, and for some reason I feel that I have to view the page source.
First thing I notice is this META tag:
<META content=”MSHTML 6.00.2800.1400″ name=GENERATOR>
Interesting. Why would a *nix site have a tag like that? It would appear to me as if the site was designed on a *ptooie* Microsoft platform.
Ok, I’m not really one to talk, since I use Windows every day, and I hate it more every day too.
